Welcome to Hotel Francés

Hotel Francés stands as a charming blend of history and comfort in the heart of Santa Rosalía, B.C.S., Mexico. Nestled at Jean M. Cousteau 15 in the Mesa Francia neighborhood, this vintage hotel from the 1880s offers guests a unique experience that evokes a sense of stepping back in time while enjoying modern amenities. With a solid rating of 4.3, it appeals to visitors seeking an authentic stay marked by cultural richness and local heritage.

The hotel’s historic charm is palpable from the moment guests arrive. The high ceilings and creaky floors create an atmosphere of nostalgia, preserving the legacy of a bygone era. Yet modern comforts, such as air conditioning and a pristine pool, ensure a pleasant stay even in the warmest months. Staff members are welcoming and attentive, often sharing stories about the hotel’s past and the development of Santa Rosalía itself. This personal touch leaves visitors feeling connected not just to the place, but to its community and history.

Guests frequently commend the hotel's peaceful location, set above the lively town. It offers splendid views of the cityscape with panoramic glimpses of the ocean, making it an ideal retreat from the weekend buzz below. Despite its vintage roots, Hotel Francés integrates conveniences like free Wi-Fi, paid breakfast, free parking, and a dedicated restaurant that complements the local dining scene. While not pet-friendly, it welcomes families, creating a warm environment for all visitors.

The hotel's well-preserved character, combined with the hospitality extended by staff fluent in English, enhances accessibility for international travelers. Small but meaningful touches, such as fresh coffee and cake upon arrival, showcase the genuine care provided. The pool consistently receives praise as the perfect spot to unwind after exploring the vibrant and active surroundings.

While some guests note areas that could benefit from updates—like more comfortable beds and additional electrical outlets—the enduring appeal of Hotel Francés lies in its ability to balance authenticity with hospitality. It is a haven that celebrates history without sacrificing the practicality required by modern travelers.

For those eager to immerse themselves in Santa Rosalía’s unique culture and scenic beauty, Hotel Francés offers more than just a place to stay. It is an invitation to experience the city’s story firsthand, complemented by thoughtful service and quiet comfort. This makes it a highly recommended destination for visitors wanting to blend sightseeing, relaxation, and an intimate connection with a remarkable historic landmark.

Hotel Frances is in a beautiful neighborhood that overlooks the city and has a stellar view of the ocean. The service was impeccable, and the pool is lovely. The town was very active and noisy on the weekend, but it was nice to be in a quiet, safe neighborhood.

Discovered this little gem on a google search for Santa Rosalia. However, needed gps to find and even then not so easy maybe it was our unit)! Glad they had a few streets marked with their signage & directional arrows. Was little difficult but worth the perseverance! We did not have reservation, but no problem. Welcoming helpful staff. Salvador speaks pretty good English. This place has historical designation and is in the process of being fixed up/‘freshened up’ as permitted. It was like staying in a museum! Located high atop a hill overlooking Santa Rosalia and the ocean, it was so nice to sit on the front veranda and sip a libation and enjoy the view. Our period style room (with fabric covered walls) was clean with adequate furnishings, TV and good Wi-Fi. The bed was very comfortable and we had a wonderful nights rest. Nice quiet area which appeared to be residential, it’s a safe environment. Great parking. As snowbirds, wished we’d have found this years back! Would highly recommend for if anything, a step back in time. What a pleasant surprise. Wishing them continued success with their period renovations. Will stay again!

I always enjoy Hotel Francis. Located up above the town, it's quiet and walkable to everything. Clean and very comfortable rooms

We liked our stay in this vintage place. Pictures will say more than any words. It felt like we had stepped back into the last century. Little has changed in the hotel since then. High ceilings, creaky floors. Maybe only electricity has been installed, although there is a catastrophic shortage of sockets)

This ist a unique historic Hotel from the 1880s - but with modern amenities Like a pool and air condition. Very interesting and convenient. The manager is very friendly and gave us an overview about the historic development of the town. Breakfast was superb but the restaurant was closed on the evening. You can find some restaurants nearby and the staff is ready to give information. We had a pleasant stay on the was down south to Patagonia.
